Budget at a glance: Government's new initiative for urban development and space economy

New plan for cities
Government, along with states, will facilitate development of 'Cities as Growth Hubs' through economic and transit planning, and orderly development of peri-urban areas utilising town planning schemes.

Eye on space economy
Centre will operationalise the Anusandhan National Research Fund for research and prototype development and set up a mechanism for spurring private sector-driven research and innovation at commercial scale with a financing pool of `1 lakh crore. Aventure capital fund of `1k crore will be set up to help expand the space economy by 5times in the next 10 years.


Tech to govern better
Government will use different sectoral data and statistics, including those established under the Digital India mission, with active use of technology tools to improve data governance, collection, processing and management of data and statistics.
