Wheat prices high on poor arrivals
Wheat dara prices continued to soar and finished with gains in the wholesale grain market here on Friday following holding back of stocks by bulk consumers in view of firming trend at global markets.
Firming trends in global markets too gave push to rising prices. Prices of other grains also hardened in view of fresh buying support.
Marketmen said apart from firming global markets, speculative buying by stockists and bulk consumer, also gave push to rising wheat prices.
Wheat dara prices jumped up to finish at Rs 1040-1045 a quintal on higher trend at global market amid speculative buying by bulk consumers.
Chakki atta mill delivery climbed to settle at Rs 1045-1048 a 90-kilo-bag in line with wheat.
Roller flour mills prices also swifted to conclude at Rs 1025-1035 per 90 kilo bags.
Maida and Sooji finished higher at Rs 1180-1190 and Rs 1190-1200 per 90 kilo bags respectively.
Rice basmati lal quila and shri lal mahal moved up by Rs 100 to quoted at Rs 5100 and Rs 4900 a quintal respectively. Basmati common too pushed up to settle at Rs 3800-3900 from Rs 3750-3850 a quintal.
