Wheat declines on reduced offtake by flour mills

NEW DELHI: Wheat prices fell by Rs 20 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today due to reduced off take by flour mills against increased supplies from producing regions.

However, other grains traded in a narrow range in scattered deals and settled around previous levels. Traders said reduced offtake by flour mills against increased supplies in the market mainly kept pressure on wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) fell by Rs 20 to Rs 1,650-1,655 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by the same margin to Rs 1,655-1,660 per 90 kg.

Atta flour mills, maida and sooji were also eased to Rs 900-920, Rs 960-980 and Rs 990-1010 against last close of Rs 920-930, Rs 970-990 and Rs 1010-1030 per 50 kg, respectively in line with a weak trend in wheat.

The following were today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,070-2,270, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,650-1,655, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,655-1,660 Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 900-920 (50 kg), Maida 960-980 (50 kg) and Sooji 990-1,010 (50kg).
