West Bengal sees 7.5 per cent surge in egg production

KOLKATA: The egg production in West Bengal has grown by 7.5% in value terms in the financial year 2018-19. The total egg production was to the tune of Rs 860 crore in FY19 as compared to Rs 800 crore in FY18.

This was intimated to the assembly by the state animal resources development minister Mr Swapan Debnath in reply to a question.

He also mentioned that his department’s ready-to-eat meat shop chain Haringhata Meat is doing well and has earned a revenue of Rs 17.84 crore. The minister added that the footfalls at the shops are going up as the quality of the products that are being sold through these outlets.
