Vegetable prices ease in Delhi as supplies bypass protesters
Vegetable prices in Delhi have fallen back to normal levels after a surge caused by the blockage of highways by protesting farmers.

“The prices of peas, potato and beans are currently stable, after initially seeing an increase on Friday-Saturday, due to steady supplies from other neighbouring states. The harvest of winter vegetables such as spinach, fenugreek, carrot and cabbage is at its peak. Hence, prices have not risen. We expect prices to fall once the roads are opened,” said Malhotra.
Pradipta Sahoo, business head, Safal, Mother Dairy Fruits & Vegetables, said: “On the first two days of the road blockade potato prices had increased by 5%, but with the arrival of trucks in the mandis on Tuesday the prices have come down to the previous rates of ₹42-45 a kg.”
Sahoo said supplies from Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat increased, thereby not impacting potato and vegetable availability in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). Safal sells 160 tonnes of fruits and vegetables per day in Delhi-NCR on average from its 330 outlets.
