Transafe Services to supply containers to National Horticulture Board

The state-of-the-art specialised containers being manufactured by Transafe are insulated and ventilated, so that farm fresh vegetables can be transported to the NHB depots

KOLKATA: Transafe Services Limited, a joint-venture between Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd. (29%) and ICICI Venture Capital Limited (71%). and a reputed name in the logistics and container manufacturing industry, has commenced execution of an order from Container Corporation of India for manufacturing and supplying specialised containers to the National Horticulture Board (NHB).

The state-of-the-art specialised containers being manufactured by Transafe are insulated and ventilated, so that farm fresh vegetables can be transported to the NHB depots across the country, maintaining high standards of safety and hygiene.

The first container under the order was flagged off recently from Transafe’s factory at Kharagpur by Mr Arup Roy, West Bengal minister for agriculture marketing. The event was a milestone NHB’s efforts towards establishing an effective link between the farmers and the market for farm produce.

Transafe’s creative containers are used in space research by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), ocean research organisations, Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), oil exploration companies and private rail freight container sector.

The Kolkata-headquartered Transafe Services has pioneered the use of multi-axle 45 feet road containers under its brand name "Indo Trailers" for use in the "hub & spoke" concept in the logistics field.
