KOLKATA: The country's tea production this year is expected to cross 1,200 million kilograms, recorded in 2013, Tea Board chairman Siddharth said.

"Last year, there was a record crop of 1,200 million kilograms. This year it will be higher," he told reporters here today.

He said there is a crop loss of 31 million kilograms due to vagaries of monsoon, but the shortfall will be covered by higher production in later months.
