Rs 218 cr advanced as crop loan to farmers

A sum of 218.95 crore was advanced as crop loan in 2009-10 through 227 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks (PACB) in Erode district.

ERODE: A sum of 218.95 crore was advanced as crop loan in 2009-10 through 227 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks ( PACB) in Erode district, according to a top official.

Of this amount, Rs 153 crore has been paid back by farmers through their respective PACBs.Seventy two ACBs have made cent per cent recovery from farmers, said Babu, Joint Registrar of Cooperatives at a function at Kottupullampalayam PACB yesterday, where he distributed crop loan to farmers.

He also said there are sufficient stocks of fertilisers and pesticides and select seeds in all PACBs.

Meanwhile copra auction at Perundurai Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Society fetched Rs 59 lakh. A total of 1.05 lakh kg copra arrived for sale, comprising fine and second varieties.
