Rising mustard oil prices will benefit farmers: Sanjeev Balyan

NEW DELHI: Farmers stand to gain from the rising trend in mustard oil prices, Minister of State for Agriculture Sanjeev Balyan today said.

As per official data, packed mustard oil is being sold at more than Rs 140 per litre in the national capital and its average price across the country stands at Rs 95 per litre as on today.

On the price scenario, Balyan said, "If... prices are rising a little bit, let them rise, let farmers have something. Along with inflation, we need to be concerned about farmers also. Farmers also need something."

Balyan was speaking on the sidelines of the 42nd Foundation Day of the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board.

Mustard oil prices started ticking up after the crop was adversely impacted due to unseasonal rains in March and April this year.
