Reservoirs at 19 pct of capacity - govt
Water level in main reservoirs was at 19 per cent of capacity on July 22, 2 per cent higher than the previous week's level, government data showed on Friday.
But, the latest weekly level was lower than 24 percent a year ago when the monsoon failed. Reservoirs are important for hydropower, which accounts for a quarter of India's generation capacity.
They also provide water to irrigate winter crops such as wheat and rapeseed.
