This year the area under cotton cultivation has been increased to 2.10 lakh hectares as against 1.89 lakh hectares last year in district Sirsa.
About 5.98 lakh hectares of land is under cotton cultivation in the entire state out of which district Sirsa accounted for 35 per cent area of total cotton cultivation. This year, Agriculture department has fixed a target to produce 24 quintals of cotton crop per hectare whereas during last year its production was 19.5 quintals per hectare.
It has been targeted to produce 50.4 lakh quintals of cotton this year in district Sirsa. Farmers Field Schools are being organized under various schemes of the department.
As many as 400 Farmers Field Schools have been organized so far in the district in which agricultural equipments and inputs are being provided to farmers under various schemes.
Farmers have been advised to work on crop management in consultation with agricultural scientists and officers of Agricultural department so that they could get maximum yield of Bt cotton.
