Reconstituted Tea Board of India appoints five members from Assam
GUWAHATI: Five persons from Assam have been appointed to the reconstituted Tea Board of India, which functions under the Union ministry of commerce and industry.

The members from Assam include tea planter Prabhat K Bezboruah, BJP’s Lok Sabha member Ramen Deka and BJP’s MLA from Doom Dooma Dilip Moran.

Dineswar Tasha will represent tea workers, while Sunil Kirwai will represent tea consumers and Bidyananda Barkakoty will represent tea planters in the board. The board’s committee has 31 members, who are appointed for a period of three years.

Assam is the largest producer of tea in the country, accounting for nearly 52% of the national output.
