Rajasthan to invest Rs 2000 cr to irrigate land: Minister
The government of Rajasthan would spend a sum of Rs 2,000 crore to raise the cultivable area by 1.5 lakh hectare.
Rajasthan has spent a sum of Rs 3,500 crore on various irrigation projects and added about 4.29 lakh hectares of cultivable land area in last four years, The Irrigation and PHED Minister told a press conference on the eve of his government's 4th anniversary.
With new irrigation projects, every farmer had been able to earn Rs 1,500 crore every year, the minister claimed.
Making all efforts to provide potable water in far-flung areas of villages, Jat said, 65 cities, 7,428 main villages and 3,417 hutments were benefited through 60 major drinking water schemes.
The grants of about Rs 14,480 crore were utilised on 2,069 water schemes in last four years, he claimed.
On the ongoing farmers' agitation and sit-in since early this month at Ghadana in Sriganganagar district on additional water discharge from the Indira Gandhi Canal Project (IGNP), the minister said the state government would review water availability at the end of December.
