Rajasthan government gives Rs 200 crore relief package to farmers
The Rajasthan government today announced a Rs 200-crore relief package for farmers in view of the damage suffered by crops due to frost and cold wave.
Farmers whose crops have suffered 50 per cent or more damage will be compensated by the state government under the package.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority chaired by the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
The relief package was decided after receipt of a Girdavri report that was conducted to assess the damage suffered by crops due to frost and cold wave.
Since both -- frost and cold wave -- are not covered by the Union government under natural calamities, the state government decided to compensate the farmers on its own, according to an official.
