Punjab allows agricultural pumping supply to promote mushroom farming
To promote mushroom farming in Punjab, the electricity supply to such farms will now be covered under the highly subsidised agricultural pumping supply.

The subsidy will be reimbursed to the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited. However, the consumers will be required to pay the monthly bill for the electricity consumed as per agricultural pumping metered tariff fixed by the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission from time to time based on consumption recorded on the installed meter. Mushroom farming will also include activities such as composting, spawning and production.
Round-the-clock supply for new connections will be given to consumers subject to the technical feasibility by installing individual transformer through high voltage distribution system.
New connections with a load of more than 100kW will be released at 11kv. In case of existing consumers 24-hour supply will also be provided to mushroom growers subject to technical feasibility and the applicant will be required to bear the actual expenditure incurred in providing round-the-clock supply.
