Food minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that the government has outlined a roadmap to make Food Corporation of India (FCI) a corruption free and efficient institution.

“We hear about a lot of corruption in FCI. We want to make it corruption free. We will also ensure to prevent any wastage of foodgrains. We are preparing well for it,” he said.

Addressing a press conference he said that the government will soon roll out a new policy on Silo construction for proper storage of foodgrains.

“We have set a target of constructing Silos with capacity of 10 million tonnes by 2022-23. So far we created capacity of 6.75 lakh tonnes while Silos worth 22-23 lakh tonnes capacity are under construction. We will fast track the construction of remaining capacity,” he said.

Paswan said that the government will bring in transparency in the recruitment system of FCI.

“Currently, we have announced more than 4000 jobs. I have directed that after completion of written test, marks of every student should be put online on the same date so that any sort of fudging could be avoided,” he said.
