Paddy procurement reaches 46.52 lakh metric tonnes in Punjab

CHANDIGARH: Paddy lifting in Punjab and Haryana has reached 46.52 lakh metric tonnes and 24.45 lakh metric tonnes respectively in the ongoing crop procurement season.

Out of the total procurement in Punjab, government agencies lifted 42.19 lakh metric tonnes and private traders 4.33 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, an official spokesman said.

In Haryana, six government agencies had so far lifted over 23.14 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, he said.

The remaining 1.30 lakh metric tonnes was procured by the millers, he said.
