Over 9.53 lakh tonne paddy procured in Punjab
Paddy procurement is on full swing in Punjab as state govt agencies and private millers procured more than 9.53 lakh tonne of paddy.
The state government has set up more than 1,770 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of paddy.
The spokesman of the Punjab government said that out of total procurement of 9.53 lakh tonne of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, government agencies procured 7.42 lakh tonne of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 2.10 lakh tonne of paddy.
Till yesterday, PUNGRAIN procured 1.94 lakh tonnes (26.1 per cent), MARKFED procured 1.77 lakh tonne (23.9 per cent).
Whereas PUNSUP had procured 1.63 lakh tonne (22 per cent) PSWC procured 52,880 tonne (7.1 per cent) whereas PAIC was able to procure 82,089 tonne (11.0 per cent) of paddy.
The central government agency Food Corporation of India had been able to procure 72,533 tonne (9.8 per cent). The spokesman added that district Tarn Taran with 2.13 lakh tonne of paddy was leading in procurement operations followed by Kapurthla with 1.22 lakh tonne and Amritsar with 1.16 lakh tonne.
