Over 2.54 lakh metric tonnes of wheat procured so far in Madhya Pradesh

After seventh day of procurement in Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore and Narmadapuram - wheat worth Rs 381.66 crore had been purchased.

BHOPAL: More than 2.54 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of wheat has been procured so far in Madhya Pradesh during the current rabi season.


After seventh day of procurement in four divisions - Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore and Narmadapuram - wheat worth Rs 381.66 crore had been purchased from 44,551 farmers, an official release said here on Tuesday.

The maximum, 90,000 MT, of wheat was bought by Government agencies in Ujjain division, it said.

The first phase of procurement, which began last week, covers these four divisions. The second phase, which started yesterday, covers Chambal, Gwalior, Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur and Sagar divisions.

The first phase will continue till May 18 and the second round till May 25.
