NABARD sanctions Rs 238.65 crore for road and drinking water projects in Haryana

CHANDIGARH: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has sanctioned a loan of Rs 238.65 crore for 21 road and 14 drinking water projects in Haryana.

Stating this, NABARD (Haryana), Chief General Manager, D V Deshpande, said the loan was approved under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF)scheme.

Fund to the tune of Rs 221.53 crore were sanctioned for widening and strengthening of 191.955 km length of rural roads in 8 districts including Faridabad, Fatehabad, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Rewari, Rohtak and Yamuna Nagar of Haryana.

The construction of roads would provide all weather improved connectivity to remote villages, marketing centres, several educational and public health institutions, he said.

The project is expected to generate about 16.98 lakh man days of non recurring employment during implementation.

Further, an amount of Rs 17.11 crore were sanctioned for rural drinking water supply schemes which will be benefitting for 21 villages of Hisar district, he said.

With this sanction, the cumulative RIDF assistance sanctioned to the Haryana state under RIDF has reached at Rs 4,009.16 crore, since inception of RIDF in 1995-96, and an amount of Rs 2,628.05 crore has been disbursed there against till date.
