NABARD has sanctioned Rs two crore for setting up four fisheries stations in the state, Fisheries Minister K Babu said today.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has sanctioned Rs two crore for setting up four fisheries stations in the state, Fisheries Minister K Babu said today.

The loan had been sanctioned from the rural infrastructure development fund of the bank. The fisheries stations would come up in Malappuram, Alappuzha, Thrissur and Kasaragod.

The state now had fisheries stations at Kollam, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kannur.

The state government had submitted a Rs 200 crore project to NABARD for development of coastal infrastructure and received administrative sanction for Rs 60 crore, he said.

Drinking water schemes, fish landing centres, coastal roads, educational institutions and hospitals are part of the project, the minister said in the release.
