Pune: A smaller harvest and disruption in transportation has caused shortages and raised moong dal prices by about 20% although the supply of other staples is normal.

In Nagaur, prices of top-quality whole moong rose 13% in the past two weeks to Rs 83/kg, leading to up to 20% increase in wholesale and retail prices.
