Mizoram in MoU with Israeli co for orange production

Mizoram government and an Israeli company has signed a memorandum of understanding which would enable orange growers in the state.

AIZAWL: Mizoram government and an Israeli company has signed a memorandum of understanding which would enable orange growers here replace the ‘disease-infected’ orange variety and grow Israeli hi-bred variety, Horticulture department officials said here.

Horticulture director Samuel Rosanglura said that the state government signed the MoU with Naan Dan Agriculture Products, Israel, for the Secondary High Tech Green House Nursery for Citrus second phase at an estimated cost of Rs 54 lakh.

The MoU was signed by Rosanglura on behalf of the state government and David Askaneji, Business Development Officer of the Israeli company.

Earlier, the state government, with expertise from Naan Dan company had grown 12,000 orange seedlings at Chite area near here.
