Matsyafed takes up fishing net project

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Co-operative Federation for Fisheries Development (Matsyafed), has taken up construction of a fishing net manufacturing unit in Kannur district with an outlay of Rs 18.50 crore, and a Glucocemen factory in Alappuzha district, Matsyafed chairman V V Saseendran said here.

Two other projects under way are a fishmeal plant in Alappuzha district and a community peeling centre of international standards in Kollam district. Matsyafed had a working profit of Rs 51.43 lakh in 2008-09.
