Make agriculture remunerative: Badal
Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal stresses upon the Union Government to link the procurement prices of agriculture produce with the Consumer Price Index without any delay.
Addressing a rural gathering at a Prize Distribution function of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Memorial Sports Tournament organised to mark the Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Sarabha, at Sarabha village here, Badal said that the Union Government should constitute a high level-panel to look into the over all rising costs of production of the agriculture produce and to suggest the measure for deciding remunerative prices to the farmers, as at present the farming community was completely ruined with the heavy burden of debts.
He said that there was an urgent need for the complete revamping of education system in the rural areas and informed that his Government had decided to open one Adrash Model School was being set up in each constituency, where the education facilities would be provided at par with the reputed Punjabi schools, where quality education would be provided free of cost to the intelligent poor children, who were unable to get the education.
Paying tributes to Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Badal said that he was the youngest Martyr, who sacrificed his life at the age of on 19 years. He said that this brave son of the country, had joined Gaddar party in America and returned to India to lead the revolution against the British rulers.
Badal regretted that even after the passing 60 years of the Independence, the dreams of the martyrs could not be fulfilled and many social problems like poverty, increasing population, unemployment, illiteracy, poor health conditions were remained unsolved.
He said that for all these ills, the wrong policies adopted by the Union Congress Governments, which ruled country for the maximum duration and said that his Government had chalked out a comprehensive plan to improve the quality of these services.
