Planning Commission Member V L Chopra today said contract farming can solve the problem of shortage of maize, the major feed in the poultry industry.

NEW DELHI: Planning Commission Member V L Chopra today said contract farming can solve the problem of shortage of maize, the major feed in the poultry industry.

In the poultry sector, feed is an important cost of production and contract farming is the solution to overcome maize shortage, Chopra said commenting on the high cost of poultry feed in the country.

Inaugurating a poultry exhibition here, he said the industry should have control measures so that problems of bird flu type do not happen.

He advocated zoning of areas so that one zone is not affected by bird flu hit in another zone, a release of the orgainser of the event said.
