Maharashtra may go for generating artificial rainfall from August
Facing the prospect of a deficient rainfall the Maharashtra government is now going to go in for a plan to generate artificial rainfall in August. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said that the state has shortlisted two firms for generating rainfall however the state would wait for rains till the first week of August before going in for the ‘experiment.’

“If the rains don’t come till the first week of August then we would go ahead with generating artificial rainfall. Besides the two firms we have shortlisted there is one more firm that has expressed interest, they are willing to do the experiment without charging us and have requested us to give them a opportunity.”said the Chief Minister.

After heavy rains for a couple of days in June, Maharashtra has been facing a huge deficit in rains which has caused huge losses to farmers. The lack of rains has also brought down the water level in the various dams in the state which could also impact the state's power generation capacity.
