India’s horticulture production to increase marginally in 2025-26: First Advance Estimate
New Delhi: India’s horticulture production is projected to remain largely flat at 3708.46 lakh tonnes in 2025-26 from 3707.38 lakh tonnes in the previous year, the government’s first advance estimate for 2025-26 released on Monday said.

Horticulture has emerged as a key driver in boosting farmers' income, with record growth in both area and production, said Shivraj Singh, minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.

Vegetable production is estimated up to 2177.97 lakh tonnes in 2025-26 from 2072.08 lakh tonnes in 2024-25 led by an increase in the production of onion, potato, green chilli, cauliflower, cabbage, brinjal, okra, peas, pumpkin, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, cucumber, tapioca, sweet potato, radish and capsicum.


The production of fruits is expected to touch 1186.80 lakh tonnes, an increase of 0.88% and vegetables at 2161.60 lakh tonnes in 2025-26, showing higher production of tomato, peas, tapioca, green chilli and pumpkin, according to the ministry of agriculture’s estimate.

Production of flower’s is projected at 41.65 lakh tonnes in 2025-26, according to the estimate from 42.65 lakh tonnes.

The area under cultivation for spices hit 50.93 lakh hectares, up 1.38% and production was 129.93 lakh tonnes, an increase of 4.08% from 124.84 lakh tonnes in the previous year. The production is expected to touch 128.18 lakh tonnes in 2025-26 on the back of notable gains in area and production both in cumin, ginger, garlic and turmeric.
