India's 2023/24 sugar output seen at 32.5 mln T-industry body

The sugar industry has been facing difficulties in making cane payments to farmers due to restrictions on exports and the government's decision to ban ethanol production from cane juice, the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) said in a statement.

India is likely to produce 32.5 million metric tons of sugar in the 2023/24 marketing year started on Oct. 1, a leading industry body said on Friday.
