India is working to ensure ethanol supplies are not disrupted for blending with gasoline, Oil Secretary Pankaj Jain said on Friday, adding that the target of raising ethanol blending in petrol to 20% from 2025/26 is intact.

The secretary's statement comes a day after India, in an effort to boost sugar supply, directed sugar mills not to use cane juice or syrup to produce ethanol.

The country's ethanol supply year begins in November and runs until October.
