HP cabinet approves new relief package for farmers

The Himachal Pradesh cabinet on Thursday approved a relief package for farmers and enhanced subsidy from existing 10 per cent to 50 per cent on premium under group insurance for Rabi season-2007.

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh cabinet on Thursday approved a relief package for farmers and enhanced subsidy from existing 10 per cent to 50 per cent on premium under group insurance for Rabi season-2007.

It would be effective from August onward, the cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh decided.

The package will be available on wheat, barley, maize, paddy and potato crops.

The cabinet also decided to take remedial measures to attend to any exigency arising due to mishaps or road side accidents and sanctioned well equipped ambulances (trauma vans) with supporting staff at Solan, Mandi, Tanda, Hamirpur, Nahan, Chamba and Rampur covering major parts of the state.

The cabinet granted sanction for creation and filling up of 1,812 posts of different categories which included 982 posts in education department and 649 posts in health and family welfare department.

It decided to launch a special drive to fill up backlog of 29 posts of various categories for disabled persons in health and family welfare department in pursuance of the directions of the High Court.
