Haryana to get Rs 98 crore under crop diversification programme

To encourage the farmers of Haryana to adopt crop diversification, the Central Government has approved Rs 98.50 crore.

CHANDIGARH: To encourage the farmers of Haryana to adopt crop diversification, the Central Government has approved Rs 98.50 crore under the scheme known as 'Crop Diversification in Original Green Revolution States' for it during the current financial year.

Stating this here today, an official spokesman of Agriculture Department said out of it, a sum of Rs 66.52 crore would be spent on popularising the cultivation of guar, maize, Basmati besides plantation of popular and intercropping in agro-forestry.

A sum of Rs 10 crore would be spent on farm mechanisation and value addition component, he said adding a sum of Rs 20 crore would be spent on site specific activities to popularise drip irrigation, rotavator, laser land leveler, seed drill, zero till drill and seed drill-cum-planter.

He said that, various awareness activities would also be organised under the scheme which included State level kisan melas, training programmes at the level of district, block and village and exposure visits.
