Chandigarh: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Jai Parkash Dalal said that after the reports of locust attack reported in Punjab and Rajasthan, the State has also been put on high alert. Special supervision teams have been constituted to tackle the situation and to spread the awareness about the same across the State and further to control the locust attack, the State farmers will also get the pesticides at 50 percent subsidy he added.

The Agriculture Minister has also appealed to the farmers to inspect their fields and immediately report the presence of any locust attack in their fields and inform about the same to the local Agricultural Development Officer, Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Haryana Agricultural University, Hissar or Deputy Director, Agriculture Department and to the Control Room.

He said that proper arrangements for loud noises should be made for repelling the locust. He said that farmers have also been given special training on how to stop the locus attack. He said that as per the requirement, adequate arrangements of pesticides are also been made and therefore the State farmers should not panic and worry.


The Minister said that it has been decided that for the control of the Locust, the stock of pesticides namely Chlorpyriphos 20% EC and Chlorpyriphos 50% EC have been made available through HAFED, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, Haryana Seed Development Corporation and Haryana Land Reclamation and Development Corporation and the farmers can get pesticides at a 50 percent subsidy. Apart from this, farmers can also use pesticides such as Bendiocarb, Deltamethrin, Fipronil, Lamda Cyhalothrin and Malathion.

The Minister said that proper preparations are being made in border districts that are adjoining Rajasthan and Punjab including Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar. Apart from this, arrangements have been made in Bhiwani, Mahendragarh, Rewari and Charkhi Dadri districts and adjoining areas of these districts.
