Gujarat could get a "Potato Post Harvest Centre of Excellence"

A potato delegation from Netherlands on visit to India would simultaneously assess business opportunities in Ahmedabad, Delhi and Chandigarh.

AHMEDABAD: The Dutch Potato Mission to India would assess possibility of setting up a ""Potato Post Harvest Centre of Excellence"" in Gujarat.

A potato delegation from Netherlands on visit to India would simultaneously assess business opportunities in Ahmedabad, Delhi and Chandigarh.

An initiative of the Netherlands Agriculture Department, the Dutch Potato mission to India would arrive in Ahmedabad from December 2-4.

The Dutch potato mission to India comprises various companies representing the complete potato chain from farm to the fork. It comprises companies involved in seeding, to handling and grading potatoes, to those involved in storage and processing.

Netherlands is looking for long term business opportunities in India and are members of the recently inaugurated Dutch Potato Centre (DPC) - India.

The DPC is part of the Netherlands Agro, Food And Technology Centre - India that would be the project office for the intended Potato Centre of Excellence in Gujarat.

Together, the two countries would look at setting up a ""Potato Post Harvest Centre of Excellence"" in Gujarat, said Jolly Joseph, deputy representative, Netherlands Business Support Office Ahmedabad.
