Guar crop in Haryana affected by diseases
Guar crop in Haryana-one of major producers, has been affected by several diseases which have emerged on account incessant rains along with humid weather conditions in the northern region.
Alarmed at it, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University has issued advisory measures to the farmers to save crop.
According to varsity's Director of Research, B.S. Chhillar, the incessant rains and humid weather conditions have caused a number of diseases in guar crop.
To ascertain the impact of the affect of diseases, he has directed the scientists to conduct survey in guar cultivations areas, said a statement issued here on Monday.
In the survey report, scientists have confirmed the affect of Bacterial Leaf Blight (BLB), Alternatia leaf spot, root rot and wilt on guar crop.
According to the scientists, the BLB disease causes losses in cluster bean upto 50-70 per cent under severe conditions.They stated that scattered rains, high humidity and warm temperature (28-30 degree C) favours BLB development during monsoon months.
The farmers have been advised to spray streptocycline (150 ppm) in 200 litres of water starting from the onset of disease and should be repeated after 15 days.
