Govt cuts tur dal supplies and increases chana dal for PDS
Prices of tur dal and moong dal are on the rise in the country on fears of fall in production due to deficient and delayed rainfall in the growing areas.

A government resolution dated July 24 had made the change in allocation pattern. Government started distributing tur dal and chana dal from March 1, 2019. The beneficiaries had the option of choosing either 1 kg of chana dal or 1 kg of tur dal. "Now the availability of tur dal from the central government has been very less, while the supply of chana dal has increased as compared to earlier supply figures," the GR reads.
Prices of tur dal and moong dal are on the rise in the country on fears of fall in production due to deficient and delayed rainfall in the growing areas. The government has also increase import quota of pulses to keep domestic prices under control.
So the PDS beneficiaries will now be eligible to get a maximum of 2 kg dal per month which can be 1 kg tur dal and 1 kg chana dal or 2 kg chana dal or just 1 kg tur dal or just 1 kg of chana dal. For the month of June, tur dal will be available at Rs 55/kg while chana dal will be available at Rs 45/kg. The fair price shop owners will get a margin of Rs 1.5/kg for both tur dal and chana dal.
