Good demand for coconut products in Gulf, EU: Pravasi Chairman

THRISSUR: There is good demand for coconut products manufactured by Pravasi (Sojourners) Syndicate's venure, Keratech Private Limited, in the European Union and Gulf countries, a top official has claimed.

Five hundred Pravasis, who had worked abroad, are the share holders of the Pravasi Syndicate, Pravasi Group of Companies Chief Promoter and Chairman, K V Mohanan, told a press conference here last night.

Another unit of the Syndicate, Malabar Coconut Products, would be commissioned by the Minister for Agriculture, K P Mohanan at nearby Vadanappilly tomorrow in collaboration with Coconut Development Board, Union Ministry of Agriculture and the State's Agriculture Department, he said.

With a view to providing remunerative price for coconut farmers, coconuts are being purchased from them on the basis of three month, six month and one year period.

The price fixed at the time of entering the contract with the farmers would maintain till expiry of the contract period, he added.

The Keratech Private Limited is located at nearby Engandiyur.
