Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday introduced the Gowardhan Scheme for promoting circular economy with total investment of Rs 10,000 crore. While presenting the Union Budget for 2023–2024, she stated that the government would assist 1 crore farmers in converting to natural farming.


As per FM, under the new MISHTI scheme the government will take up mangrove plantation along the coastline .


Sitharaman further stated that the government would promote conservation values through a scheme to encourage optimal use of wetlands.

A green credit programme will be notified to incentivise environmentally sustainable and responsible actions by companies, she added.
