Farm activist Vandana Shiva has moved the Supreme Court, seeking quashing of government's decision to import one million tonnes of wheat by July 2007.

NEW DELHI: Farm activist Vandana Shiva has moved the Supreme Court, seeking quashing of government's decision to import one million tonnes of wheat by July 2007.
A three-judge Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan has posted the hearing to May 17. In an affidavit, Shiva has sought a direction to the government to ban future trading in foodgrains.
She also urged that Multinational Companies (MNCs) and private traders be banned from purchasing directly from farmers.
