DuPont arm in pact with seed co

Pioneer Hi-Bred International, part of the Du Pont Group, has tied up with Prasad Seeds to work on a new production plant near Hyderabad.

HYDERABAD: Pioneer Hi-Bred International, part of the Du Pont Group, has tied up with Prasad Seeds to work on a new production plant near Hyderabad. This new facility is owned and operated by Prasad Seeds. Pioneer will work at this facility to deliver high yield modified seeds for its Indian customers, according to a company release on Friday.

The new plant offers drying and conditioning capacity for substantial increase in production to meet the growing demand for seed corn this season. Bulk trials have been conducted at the plant. Pioneer has found the facility suitable to its needs as its equipment meets the company's quality standards for seed production.

The plant is expected to dry 3,500-4,000 MT of corn seed this season. The facility will also have the ability to dry hybrid rice seed and condition, treat and package rice, corn and pearl millet seed, the release said.
