Darjeeling tea is facing tough competition in Germany as the European nation has decided to buy Nepalese tea and cut down imports of Darjeeling tea.

German buyers are trying to develop a ' Himalayan brand' with Nepalese tea, which is priced much less than Darjeeling tea. Moreover, imports from EU has also come down this season as the buyers there are busy offloading last year's stock. - Sutanuka

Gulapbagh, a small town 315 kms from Patna, is gradually changing thanks to better price recovery of maize, the major in Rabi crop from the region.

The change was initiated by Ncdex which entered the maize trade a year ago. Farmers who used to get Rs 9 per kg for maize is now getting Rs 12 -13 per kg. New storage capacities are being created in the neighbourhood of Gulap bag mandi in anticipation of higher business in coming years
