Contract farming successful in Haryana

The 'Contract Farming Scheme' in Haryana would go a long way in benefitting the farming community.

CHANDIGARH: The 'Contract Farming Scheme' in Haryana would go a long way in benefitting the farming community by ensuring the farmers pre-assured price of their agricultural produce, Shadi Lal Batra, MLA, Chairman, Haryana State Agriculture Marketing Board (HSAMB) said on Friday after inaugurating a meet on 'Contract Farming' between the Sponsor Firms and Farmers of the State held at Panchkula, near here, he said that the Sponsoring Firms would provide the farmers the techniques and inputs for better farming and resultantly better value of their produce.

The Chairman said that the food processing industries in turn would assure supply of quality raw material to encourage the farmers for producing quality agriculture produce.

He said that the rights of the farmers had been protected well and a grievance redressal forum had been provided in the rules.

He said that adoption of 'Contract Farming' would fetch more value to the farmers and would enhance the income of the farmers at large
