Coconut development board invites applications for national awards

NEW DELHI: The Coconut Development Board today said it has invited applications from farmers and others for national level awards with cash prize of up to Rs 50,000.

"The awards carrying cash prize ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 will be given in 20 categories," the board said in a statement.

Applications are invited in different categories include the best farmer at national and regional levels, best coconut processor, best research worker, best craftsman manufacturing coconut based handicrafts and best exporter of coconut products, it added.

There is also an award for best coconut processing unit managed by women.

Last date of submitting the applications in farmers category is June 30 and in others July 20.

The application is to be submitted to the respective state agriculture or horticulture departments.

The board has instituted national level awards to recognise and promote excellence in coconut cultivation.
