Cashew exports jump 40% in Apr-Nov

Despite a slight fall in quantity, cashew export revenue has registered a 40.2% increase and stood at Rs 2061.9 crore in the April- November period of the current fiscal.

KOCHI: Despite a slight fall in quantity, cashew export revenue has registered a 40.2% increase and stood at Rs 2061.9 crore in the April- November period of the current fiscal. The quantity of exports registered a 2.3% fall to touch 74,773 tonnes during the April-November period of the current fiscal.

The quantity of exports stood at 76,571 tonnes. The export revenue in dollar terms increased by 28.4% to remain at $465.96 million during the period under review as compared to the same period last year. The unit value of exports increased to Rs 275.75 per kg during April-November period from a previous level of Rs 192.04 per kg.

Import of raw cashewnuts increased by 8.4% to a level of 490,952 tonnes during the period under review. Value of import increased by 86.1% to touch Rs 2,089 crore.

In dollar terms, the value of imports increased to $472.19 million, an increase of 70.5% compared to the April to November period of last year. Unit value of imports increased to Rs 42.56 per kg from Rs 24.79 per kg.
