Arun Kumar, convenor of the competition said Bombay Trading Corporation won five awards while Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company Pvt. Ltd. (KDHP) and United Nilgiri Tea Estates Company Ltd. shared four awards each. Devon Plantations & Industries Ltd, Joonktollee Tea & Industries Ltd, Harrisons Malayalam Limited-SBU(B) and Kodanad Estate shared three awards each, Harrisons Malayalam Limited-SBU(A) won two awards, Waterfall Estate Pvt Ltd and Woodbriar Group shared one award each, while Vigneshwar Estate Tea Factory won six awards in the bought leaf factory segment.
KDHP managing director K Mathew Abraham said the awards won by the company for the high range region are a recognition of the high quality standards maintained by the company through safe and sustainable agronomical practices. KDHP, the largest plantation company in South India, has won 41 awards over the years for the Munnar region where its facilities are located. Besides Indian market, it exports tea to Europe, US, Russian and Asian countries.
