11.71 million tonne paddy procured in Punjab

AHMEDABAD: Paddy Procurement is on full swing in Punjab. The state procurement agency PUNGRAIN achieved first position in paddy procurement. PUNGRAIN procured 3.28 million tonne paddy which is 29.4 % of the total procurement of the state, till November 6.

Government agencies and private millers procured more than 11,716,604 tonnes of paddy till Tuesday evening. The state Government has set up more than 1770 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of paddy.

The spokesman of the Punjab government said that Out of total procurement of 11.72 million tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, government agencies procured 11.15 million tonnes of paddy till Wednesday whereas private traders procured 0.56 million tonnes of paddy.

Till November 6, PUNGRAIN procured 3.28 million tonne (29.4%), MARKFED procured 2.52 million tonne (22.2%) whereas PUNSUP had procured 2.56 million tonne (22.9%), PSWC procured 1.14 million tonne (10.2%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 1.15 million tonne (10.3%) of paddy.The Central Government agency Food Corporation of India had been able to procure 0.50 million tonne(4.5%).
