New Delhi: By encouraging the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan may have tried to internationalise the Kashmir issue yet again, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Saudi Arabia trip and US Vice President JD Vance's India visit with an aim to hyphenate India-Pakistan.

Experts familiar with Pakistan's India policy claimed that the country's all-powerful military, frustrated over the lack of global attention either to the country or the Kashmir issue, may have planned the attack hoping that both Riyadh and the Trump administration would be forced to pay attention to Islamabad. Pakistan's goal is to garner sympathy from other world capitals, including from the Arab world and the West.

However, the US came out strongly in India's support after the attack. US President Donald Trump on Wednesday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and condemned the terror attack, extending America's full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of the heinous act.

Ahead of the PM's trip to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan hosted UAE deputy PM and FM but Abu Dhabi on Tuesday night came out strongly in favour of India following the attack. The Saudi government, led by Crown Prince Md Bin Salman, also backed any action that India would deem correct following the attack.

Over the past decade, Pakistan has been losing its appeal among the Gulf states and the larger Arab world, except managing the stereotyped statements on Kashmir by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Even within the OIC, the central Asian states besides Indonesia remain lukewarm to Pakistan's proposals on Kashmir.

Besides, USA, Russia, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Israel, strong support has poured for India, including from Pakistan's traditional ally Turkey.
