Women marching contingents to form big part of R-day Parade

NEW DELHI: The 75th Republic Day Parade that will be held this year will be women centric and has been themed around 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka', Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane said on Friday.

Women marching contingents will form the major chunk of the parade, with most of the tableaux of States, Union Territories and Central Ministries selected in line with the theme of 'India is truly a mother of democracy'.

For the first time, the parade will commence with 100 women artists playing Indian musical instruments. It will also witness an all-women Tri-Service contingent marching down Kartavya Path for the first time. The central armed police forces contingents this year will also consist of women personnel.


French President Emmanuel Macron will be the Chief Guest at this year's Republic Day Parade.
