With Lt Gen MU Nair taking over as the next National Cyber Security Coordinator, Maj Gen KV Kumar is set to become the next Signals Chief of the Army.

The vacancy for Signal Officer in Chief in the Army is set to be filled by Maj Gen Kumar who will need to pick up the rank of a Lt Gen. At the top Signals post he will be tasked with implementing a roadmap for indigenisation in the Army that will span communications, Cyber Security, digitization and utilisation of Artificial Intelligence.

The officer has commanded the 57 Infantry Division Signal Regiment and has served as a Addition Director General in the Signals directorate.


He has also served in Northern Command as Chief Signals Officer and oversaw the modernization drive there, besides having a tenure at the National Cadet Corps in Chandigarh.
