In a statement on social media platform X, Patel said, "The FBI sends our condolences to all the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir — and will continue offering our full support to the Indian government. This is a reminder of the constant threats our world faces from the evils of terrorism. Pray for those affected. Thank you to the men and women of law enforcement who answer the call in moments like these."
The attack, which took place on April 22 at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, resulted in the deaths of 26 people, while several others sustained injuries after terrorists targeted tourists in the region.
In addition to Patel's remarks, US President Donald Trump extended his condolences in a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Trump condemned the attack and pledged full US support in bringing the perpetrators to justice. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, shared a post on X detailing the conversation, which included Trump's strong condemnation and expression of solidarity with India. Jaiswal also highlighted that the United States stands united with India in the fight against terrorism.
US Vice President JD Vance also conveyed his deepest condolences to PM Modi and condemned the attack. He reiterated that the United States would continue to stand with India in this challenging time and offer assistance in combating terrorism. Prime Minister Modi thanked both Trump and Vance for their messages of support.
